Ready for another swap? Closed!

This swap is now closed. Thank you.

Thank you all for signing up for the craft box swap. It's going to be so much fun!

As I told you in my last post, I've had a few ideas for some lovely, cheap swaps. Are you ready to hear about the second one?

Laalaa's Blanket Squares swap! We all want a crocheted or knitted blanket to snuggle under but we don't always have the staying power to complete one. Well, I don't anyway. So I thought it would be nice to share the load and all make a square for each other.

Now, I know that there are a few other similar ideas floating around blogland at the moment so I hope those of you who knit or crochet will be up for another swap

Let me, as always, state a few rules first of all.

  • This swap is UK only.

  • This swap is a blog swap, therefore, you must have a current blog.

  • To join the swap you must be a follower of my blog.

    • The idea is that we each knit or crochet at least one square for everyone else on the list. Then we will all have enough squares to make something with and it will be a lovely, blog friend blanket, cushion, lap blanket etc. You don't have to be an expert knitter/crocheter as the squares will all be different and the beauty of it will be that there will be basic squares alongside more experienced ones. It will all add to the loveliness.

I am a very fast crocheter and knitter so I don't mind making a few more if anyone is short of the amount they need.

I suggest that we either make 6" or a 12" squares. That way, they can be made up to 12" squares and thus make a larger blanket if necessary whilst still having small enough squares to make a small project.

So what do you think? Do you fancy snuggling under a bloggy blankie?

      Photo taken from Ravelry

Like this one. This blanket shows that you can have some plain squares and the blanket will still be lovely.

Or this one. This one shows that the squares don't all have to be the same size.

Who wants to play? To sign up:

      • Please comment on this post stating your colour preferences.

      • Let me know whether you're a begiiner or experienced knitter/crocheter.

      • Tell me if you're happy to make more sqaures if necessary.

      • Email me (at the address linked to my blog) and give me your postal address.

I will keep this open until Friday 20th January and will then email you all outlining a timetable for your makes. Depending on how many people sign up, I may break us up into groups so that we don't end up having to make loads.

Come on! Let's have some wooly fun.

Oops forgot to leave my colours! I love blue but am happy to have/make any colours, and will make more squares if needed. I started crocheting just over a year ago and have been knitting for years but prefer crochet because it's faster. Will email you.

      Love Emma xxx xxx

Can you sign me up to please. Colours either blues and purples or oranges and browns. I'm quite a novice knitter, but will have a go at making more than one square if required.

I can crochet fairly well but my knitting isn't up to much I'm afraid. Favourite colours would be blues. I'll e-mail you my details.

Hi Lynda - thanks for your comment - am also hoping this is the last tweak I need.

Loving the idea of both swaps but I've got to put all my efforts at the moment into a craft fair, birthdays and my PIF giveaway :(

sorry, forgot to mention that I knit and crochet, but crochet is my favourite medium for making squares. I would prefer neutral and earth shades, or blue. Thanks, Joy x x

I am out of this as I am rubbish at knitting or crochet! A few square could easily be a monthly make though hun!

Ooooh sign me up girly ;)

I both knit and crochet but like Joy I prefer to crochet squares.

Colours: To be honest I'm not fussy as they're for a blanket. Just NO neon, fluorescent colours.

      These swapping ideas are contagious!
I am a beginner on the knitting front - just made my very 1st thing - a scarf lol :D
I am in a knitting group hosted by my local charity radio station so perhaps all of us in our group could get involved too - I'm sure we'd all relish the challenge - some of which are real whizzes!!!

What a fab idea, I would love to be able to snuggle under a blanket that reminds me off friends - usually everyone else snuggles under my blankets !

What a lovely idea, please count me in. I would prefer to crochet squares, but I can knit if someone is aiming to have a completely knitted blanket. Would it be a good idea to suggest sticking to a particular weight of yarn, such as dk and machine washable yarn?
I think I would like to receive crocheted squares in neutral colours - something to snuggle under on the sofa, as my toes are always cold. Best wishes, Pj x
